I have to say I was a little bit nervous when asked to shoot Erich and Amy’s engagement and wedding photography. Erich is an accomplished wedding photographer based in Salem, Oregon and he has high standards as you can see by his wedding work.
However, as it turns out, the fact that Erich is a wedding photographer is a huge bonus. He and Amy are great subjects because they are both very familiar with the camera and lighting.
I had a secret place picked out for an engagement session and I waited until the right couple came along that fit that location.Although they don’t do weddings and wedding photography at the Frye Art Museum in Seattle (currently) they may in the future. In either case, I wanted to shoot in the Frye because of this one fantastic room covered from floor to ceiling with oil paintings. I don’t do random and generic engagement sessions. I firmly believe an engagement session should reflect some aspect of the couple and the more thought that is put into it, the better the pictures turn out. Erich and Amy were perfect!
Mike and Laura Rehearsal Dinner | Hayden Lake, ID
The wedding really starts the night before at the rehearsal dinner. Friends and family convene to share stories about the bride and groom, eat fantasic food, and renew bonds of family and friendship.
Mike and Laura’s rehearsal dinner at The Clark House on Hayden Lake was the perfect example of this. Nestled on the bank of Hayden Lake, the Clark House was originally constructed as a private summer home for the powerful and very wealthy. Princes and presidents came to the Clark House to enjoy Hayden Lake and entertain guests from around the world.

The entire evening was very special. Cocktails were served on the veranda, and guests mingled among the well kept grounds of the mansion. I had a great time meeting Mike and Laura’s family, who were incredibly nice and easygoing. Towards the end of the evening, everyone gathered in the great hall for a slide-show about Mike and Laura’s life together. It was so much fun to be part of the excitement leading up to their wedding day.
