Snoqualmie Falls Engagement | A River Runs Through It
I’m so happy to show you one of my all-time favorite outdoor engagement sessions. It’s one of my favorites, really, for several reasons. First, Sam and Matt are really warm people who are obviously very in love. They were so much fun and absolutely great sports. As I wrote in my last post, I called the couple a few weeks before the shoot and suggested we try to take some engagement photos in the style of the movie, “A River Runs Through It.”
As it turns out, this movie is one of Matt’s favorite movies. And, not only that, but the couple love to fly-fish together.
Thus, the stars aligned and the weather (which was rainy for weeks) cooperated. We shot these engagement photos at the base of Snoqualmie Falls, just below the Salish Lodge along a rocky riverbank.

I couldn’t be more happy with the way they turned out. I’m really looking forward to shooting Sam and Matt’s wedding this Fall!

Snoqualmie Falls Engagement | A River Runs Through It | Sneak Peek
I love shooting engagement and wedding photography at Snoqualmie Falls. It is a rugged and rustic place, with amazing light, mist, and lush green foliage.
When talking with Matt and Sam this past year, we started honing in on ideas for an outdoor enagagement session. Matt and Sam are both into the outdoors and love to explore the wilds of Washington and Idaho.
One day while I was out jogging I started thinking about ideas for their engagement and suddenly it came to me: why not revisit Snoqualmie Falls ( a place that Matt and Sam told me they love) and create a shoot based around the movie ‘A River Runs Through It.’
It’s one of my favorite movies. As nervous as I was to pitch the idea, it turned out that Matt and Sam love that movie as well. A LOT.
These photos are just a sneak peek of the incredible engagement session at Snoqualmie Falls (just outside of North Bend, WA.)

Schweitzer Mountain Wedding Photography | An Amazing Outdoor Wedding Venue
I love photographing weddings. And traveling to fantastic locations is just one of the many benefits of my job. There are some locations, however, that are truly near and dear to my heart. Sometimes, the settings are so spectacular that it’s even more special. One of those locations is Schweitzer Mountain. Schweitzer Mountain is located in Sandpoint, Idaho. It’s a place I know well. I’ve photographed dozens of weddings there. Each one is memorable. And it doesn’t seem to matter whether it’s bright and sunny or pouring rain. It’s always picturesque.
