Catherine + Dave | One Frame

Yes. Scotland really does look like a fairy tale.
Congratulations Catherine and Dave. Your engagement and wedding were gorgeous. I can’t wait to share more!
Jocelyn and Austin | Seattle, Washington
I’m proud to show these wedding photos from the Jocelyn and Austin’s elegant wedding at the Arctic Club Hotel in Seattle, WA.
Jocelyn and Austin are best friends, love each other deeply, and their wedding was both fun and classic. I love that we traveled to the Seattle Asian Art Museum to enjoy the small break of good weather for the day and get to walk the grounds and explore the art deco architecture of the museum. So much fun.
Thank you for having me as your photographer, it was a great pleasure.

Mark and Adrienne | Carmel, California
It was an absolute pleasure photographing Adrienne and Mark’s wedding at Mission Ranch in Carmel, California. It is hard to imagine a more stunning spot in which to marry. With sweeping vistas, deep blue water, and windswept trees, the location was a dream come true for wedding photography. Thank you to Mark and Adrienne for including me in this very special day. You’re a charming couple who are sure to have an amazing life of happiness and adventure ahead.

Shawn + Dyan’s Seattle Wedding
Last Sunday, I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Shawn and Dyan. They’re an amazingly sweet couple whose first date was on Shawn’s birthday. Little did he know the true gift he was receiving.
The wedding, which began in Magnolia at the Magnolia United Church of Christ, was a refreshingly intimate affair. The couple did their absolute best to make the ceremony and events surrounding the wedding inclusive. It was clear this was the forming of a family and not just a marriage between two people. Declan, who is Shawn’s son, was included in all the special moments. He wore a Superman cape and charmed everyone. At the end of the ceremony, Shawn and Dyan called out to Declan as they walked down the aisle. Declan ran and jumped into their arms. It was so sweet.

Dyan got ready at the Arctic Club Hotel in downtown Seattle. Dyan’s dress was a stunning champagne silk gown. She wore pearls and Ippolita earrings.

The Arctic Club Hotel is famous for the unique architecture on the exterior of the building, which is adorned with gold paint and sculpted walruses. This theme is also carried throughout the new hotel.

From the Arctic Club, we drove to a small park in Magnolia, Magnolia Park, where we stopped for a few minutes to take photos. Even though it was a winter day, the sky was beautiful and the air was still. It was really a nice quiet moment before the beginning of the ceremony.

Dyan sitting on the back of the 1962 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II reminded me of an angel– kind of like the winged angel on the Rolls Royce, known as the Spirit of Ecstasy or The Flying Lady.

I love how happy everyone was at the Magnolia Church of Christ before, during and after the ceremony.

Shawn and Dyan are lucky to have so many people that love them. It’s really one of my favorites parts of any wedding: seeing friends and family come together to support a newly wedded couple!

The details at the Arctic Club Hotel are really interesting. I felt like I was in the home of a world explorer.

The most stunning part of the hotel, however, is the Northern Lights Dome Room where the couple’s reception took place. The ceiling of the room is a spectacular dome, which gives off an ethereal quality and atmosphere. It’s probably one of the most picturesque venues in Seattle.

Seeing Shawn and Dyan dance together under the dome was really moving. They have a strong love and I am proud to have been chosen to document their special day.
Thanks,
Kirk

Arctic Club Hotel | Shawn + Dyan | Sneak Peek
Sunday was amazing. Shawn and Dyan are amazing.
Whether we were up in a tree, running through the rain, cruising around town in a 1962 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II (only 75 left in the world), or taking in the beauty of the Seattle’s Arctic Club Hotel ballroom - Shawn and Dyan’s wedding was an adventure!
I’m still working on the photos from their lovely wedding at the Arctic Club Hotel in Seattle but I can’t resist posting this sneak peek. More to come soon!

New York City Wedding Photography | Brooklyn Family Portrait

Robin and I are home again in Seattle, but we have fond memories of visiting our friends on the East Coast a few weeks ago. The weather was perfect and crisp. The leaves were changing. NYC is great in the Fall. And, although I shot a wedding an engagement shoot (coming soon), we made our best efforts to enjoy ourselves outside of working. We hit the streets of Brooklyn on Halloween and wandered around until we found a sweet place serving food and apple cider. On our way there, we saw tons of kids dressed up for Halloween. This mom and son, however, were my favorite. Who doesn’t love a mama owl and a baby owl celebrating Halloween together?
If you recognize them, please let me know. I’d love to give them a copy of this photo, which was taken in film on my Contax 645.
Ashley and Riggs | New York, New York
Every now and then I shoot a wedding where the mood is so festive and lively that it makes me want to get married all over again. Ashley and Riggs’ New York City wedding at the New York Athletic Club was one of those affairs. It was truly an event where every single person appeared to be having the time of their lives.

Fortunately, the New York Athletic Club has spacious rooms full of window light that made for beautiful photos of Ashley.
The Church of the Blessed Sacrament in New York is full of gorgeous details.

After the wedding ceremony, Ashley, Riggs and I retreated to New York’s Central Park, where we strolled the grounds and made some beautiful wedding photos.

The balcony on the ninth floor of the New York Athletic Club has great views of Central Park and was a favorite place for wedding guests to mingle during cocktail hour.

Seattle Wedding Photography | Tiffany + Paul | Film
I feel like I know Tiffany and Paul well. It’s a pleasure to shoot a couple when you feel this way. I first met them last winter when we did an engagement shoot together. It was freezing cold that day, but they were great sports. They were no different on their wedding day at Clise Mansion at Marymoor Park in Redmond, WA. They are an enthusiastic couple with loving families. Even a wet early fall day did not dampen their spirits. I was delighted to shoot this wedding. Thanks so much for letting me share you special day.

Tara and Patrick | Orcas Island, Washington
I am so happy to share more photographs from Patrick and Tara’s Orcas Island Wedding. They are truly a lovely couple who put an incredible amount of energy into creating a wonderfully carefree, but elegant wedding day. Their friends and family were wordly and fun-loving. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and really supported the union of two of the most creative and compassionate people I’ve met during my time as a wedding photographer. The ceremony at Rosario Resort was thoughtful and scenic. There were many wandering deer who seemed to fit right in with the peaceful nature of the wedding. The reception, which was held at The Inn at Ship Bay, was full of fun moments and candid heartfelt speeches. Being at the Inn at Ship Bay for a wedding was particularly special for me as it was where I was married one year ago. A true treat.
I hope you enjoy these photos. I love how film captures the nearly pink light as Summer bleeds into Fall.
Thank you to Tara and Patrick for choosing me as your wedding photographer. It was an honor.
