With a small break in the clouds and rain, we headed to Rattlesnake Ridge just outside of Issaquah. It was cold, but TJ and Cara are warm spirits, and their love for each other is infectious. We had a great time wandering the trials and lakeside at Rattlesnake Ridge for their engagement. I can’t wait for the wedding!
Brent and Cherry’s King County Courthouse wedding in Seattle was intimate in size, but big in love. Their closest family and friends braved the chill autumn air to see Brent and Cherry tie the knot in Seattle’s oldest courthouse. Taking a cue from Brent’s studies in industrial design, I took them to several places in the city that had interesting architecture from the 50s and 60s. It was a lot of fun to see the city through its architecture and we managed to find excellent light too.
Same sex wedding photography Seattle: Referendum 74 has passed! Congratulations to all same sex couples that have been looking forward to getting married.
I’ve enjoyed shooting same sex weddings in Canada – but now I’m so happy to celebrate same sex weddings in Seattle.
Here is a picture from one of my favorite weddings from last year. You can see the rest of Greg and Ivan’s photos here.
One frame from Kate and Mario’s wedding at Arbor Crest in Spokane, WA. It was a perfect Autumnal wedding. Even the ivy was changing color.
You may recognize this couple from an amazing engagement session from the no-man’s-land Palouse area of Eastern Washington.
Michigan was an unknown to me. I really had no expectations as I boarded the plane at Sea-Tac on my way to Detroit. As I drove through the countryside to New Buffalo, I started to understand what the heartbeat of America actually looked and felt like.
The combination of the rolling hills, farm fields, and quaint towns was really a change from the cold and bluster of Seattle. The land in this part of the country set the theme for Matthew and Terry’s intimate backyard wedding by the shores of Lake Michigan. Matthew and Terry’s friends and family gathered at Terry’s family’s summer cottage in New Buffalo for a wedding bathed in golden light and surrounded by the aroma of delicious fall foods and BBQ.
I had a wonderful time meeting their closest friends and witnessing one the most important days in their lives. It was truly an honor to shoot their wedding and now I understand the beauty and warmth of the Michigan countryside.
Do you believe the universe is really random? I am not so sure.
Take the month of September, for example. In September, I traveled twice to Michigan to shoot weddings. And, both times my clients were amazing photographers.
Here is one frame from Sean and Chelsea’s wedding at Tollgate Farm in Novi, MI. Can you feel fall in the air?
Jay and Aura love nature and the simple elegance of an outdoor wedding. It was a pleasure to capture their wedding on film – an organic medium well suited to the lush forests around Islandwood on Bainbridge Island.
I hope you enjoy the warmth and camaraderie that I experienced, through these photos. It was a beautiful and gentle reminder of what love looks like. Thank you Jay and Aura for this experience!

It was an honor and privilege to shoot Terry and Matthew’s wedding in New Buffalo, Michigan.
You see, Terry and Matthew are both well versed in photography – Matthew’s work has appeared in many publications including the New York Times. So yes, I was a bit nervous. But it all turned out very well and was a highlight of the summer.
Thank you both for having me as your photographer.
Stacey and Teal’s wedding was warm and inviting. Each part was carefully thought out to make their wedding unique but also familiar and comforting like your favorite pair of blue jeans.
From handmade table signs listing the different islands in the San Juans to Teals’ music that he composed for his own ceremony, each aspect of Stacey and Teal’s wedding was infused with love. Doe Bay wedding photography would not be complete without at least one photo of a deer. For some reason, each time I return to Orcas Island for a wedding I seem to cross paths with a deer or eagle. It is such a magical place.
Thank you Stacey and Teal for reminding me why I love my job so much. Your wedding was truly a treat.

It is rare I get to photograph a truly intimate wedding, but Jacy and Stephen’s wedding was just that. It was small, personal, and elegant. Their friends came from as far away as Texas and Tennessee to join them on the most special of days. With Mt. Hood in the background, their wedding at Gorge Crest Vineyards was truly memorable. The moon rising over the mountain at sunset summed up the beauty of the day. Thank you Jacy and Stephen for having me as your wedding photographer.
