To see Arthur and Kelsey’s beautiful wedding lead the Real Weddings section took my breath away and reconfirmed what I already knew: Arthur and Kelsey’s wedding is truly unique and firmly rooted in the beauty and quirkiness of the Pacific Northwest.

The day was crisp, clear and cold … but beautiful in a way that only the Pacific Northwest can be.

Brett and Katie’s wedding at Cama Beach Cabins in Cama Park on Camano Island embodies their love of the outdoors, nature and wildlife. Hence the wonderful duck cake topper complete with wedding gown for the hen and the stylish top hat for the drake. Both Brett and Katie are loving, gracious, and kind people who wanted a tight-knit and intimate wedding by the sea. Their wedding was a joy to shoot and really made me yearn for a camping trip out to the coast. Maybe this summer!

The Cama Beach cabins were once fishing cabins built in the 1930s. It is only recently that the area has been renovated by the national park service to allow people to stay in these cabins and have events such as weddings there. If you are interested in having your wedding in a newly opened area rich with wildlife and the rugged beauty of the northwest, you should check this place out. It is amazing.

Jocelyn and Austin are best friends, love each other deeply, and their wedding was both fun and classic. I love that we traveled to the Seattle Asian Art Museum to enjoy the small break of good weather for the day and get to walk the grounds and explore the art deco architecture of the museum. So much fun.

Ryoko and Mike are a gentle and soft spoken couple with a deep love for each other. I loved wandering through the UW Botanic Gardens with them at Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle. The leaves were changing color and the cool air of autumn mixed nicely with the warm sun. Later, we took some photos in an architect’s house who created movie sets. It was so much fun!

We made many great photos but these ones in particular stand out to me.

Let me introduce you to Jocelyn and Austin. You’ll be seeing them again soon after their wedding this fall. For now, here are a few pictures from their engagement shoot on Capitol Hill here in Seattle. As you can see, Jocelyn and Austin are a really fun couple who were up for anything. I knew that about them from the first time we met at the studio. They make my job easy! We had the best time shooting this session and I am really looking forward to a fantastic and creative wedding shoot as well.

It’s been a crazy busy summer so far. Many weddings, engagements, some fun trips to the coast and a photography show on Capitol Hill. Atul and Poonum have been dating for eight years and are soon to tie the knot at an Indian wedding in California. I was lucky enough to shoot their engagement in Seattle and we had a lot of spontaneous fun while doing so. I think spontaneous is the right word for this engagement as you will see…

After shooting engagement photos in Kerry Park, we headed to a secret spot in SODO that I’ve really wanted to shoot. It is THE place to see amazing graffiti.

As the day progressed, we went from shooting in nice sunny weather to slightly more ‘Seattle’ weather – drizzly and overcast. Never to fear though, Atul and Poonum were ready for a picnic on the beach and more engagement photography at Myrtle Edwards Park in downtown Seattle.

We had hot coffee and cupcakes from Seattle’s own Cupcake Royale. Red Velvet and pink frosting for Poonum, and a Peppermint Patty cupcake with green frosting for Atul. In case you didn’t know, Cupcake Royale is a Seattle institution and they have INCREDIBLE cupcakes. Yummy.

Even in the rain and drizzle, Poonum and Atul’s love and warmth for each other made the day seem bright and cheerful. I wish them the best at thier wedding. I KNOW it will be fantastic!!
