SOLSTICE PARK IN WEST SEATTLE PORTRAIT SESSION | LAURA + DAN | FILM

As the chill sets in the air, it’s hard to think back to the summertime, isn’t it? However, it was just a short time ago. This is one of my favorite sessions from the summer. Dan and Laura are a wonderful couple. They are incredibly easy-going and kind. It was such a pleasure to shoot this portrait session for them.

The trees in Solstice Park in West Seattle really provided much needed shade on a very warm evening. They were also the perfect backdrop for this loving couple.

I love how the apples were both part of the photo shoot in terms of color and as a snack too.

Thank you, Dan and Laura. We had a great time that evening at Solstice Park and Lincoln Park. It’s really a joy to look back over these photos today. You are a fabulous couple!

Robin and I are home again in Seattle, but we have fond memories of visiting our friends on the East Coast a few weeks ago. The weather was perfect and crisp. The leaves were changing. NYC is great in the Fall. And, although I shot a wedding an engagement shoot (coming soon), we made our best efforts to enjoy ourselves outside of working. We hit the streets of Brooklyn on Halloween and wandered around until we found a sweet place serving food and apple cider. On our way there, we saw tons of kids dressed up for Halloween. This mom and son, however, were my favorite. Who doesn’t love a mama owl and a baby owl celebrating Halloween together?

If you recognize them, please let me know. I’d love to give them a copy of this photo, which was taken in film on my Contax 645.

We thought we would share a sneak peek at our portrait session with Laura and Dan. These photos were taken last week on a brutally hot day in West Seattle at Solstice Park. It was a great location with lots of color and a little bit of welcome shade. Laura and Dan were wonderful subjects. Portland Portrait Photography | Bix + Brooksie

Sometimes, you meet people who really make you think. They are people you will never forget. That’s the case with Bix and Brooksie. They are a great couple who are truly committed. They’re not only committed to one another, but to living in a different era. The photos tell the tale. Bix and Brooksie dress in 1930s attire everyday. They also do their best to use appliances and decor from the same time period. Bix even has a sweet 1930s motorcycle. When I arrived at their home, they were listening to music from the 1930s, which was playing on old record player. It was fantastic. It was a blast to work with them and I learned a lot about depression era culture at the same time. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed this unique photo shoot.

All of these photos, except for the last two, were shot on film with my favorite camera: the Contax 645 medium format camera.

Tacoma Musuem of Glass and Union Station Engagement Session | Jacqui + Scott

I’d like to introduce you to Jacqui and Scott. They are a special couple. They are adoring. They are fun and free-spirited. They are also creative and adventurous. Jacqui and Scott met in art school about 6 years ago. Today, they are engaged and run a successful handmade paper goods company. And, as you can see, Jacqui and Scott are fantastic models. Not once did they seem awkward or camera shy. On the contrary, they were engaging and up for anything. They endured the pouring rain with smiles. Their feet froze while at the Tacoma Museum of Glass, but they never complained. It was a fun shoot. And, personally, I like the gray skies. Jacqui and Scott do not need a sunny day to beam. They do that naturally.

Every now and then it crosses my mind that I have one of the best jobs in the world – being a Seattle wedding photographer. Last Saturday was one of those great days. It was on that day that my wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Megan and Scott. Megan is a popular blogger. Scott is a talented musician and web designer. They are such obviously nice people that you feel immediately comfortable in their presence. Although they have been together for more than a decade, their delight for each other is very alive and apparent. We had a great afternoon together with them in Discovery Park. While it was muddy and a bit rainy, they were always in good spirits and a true joy to shoot. And, while Megan and Scott were married just shy of a year ago, they never had professional portraits of their wedding. It was our tremendous pleasure to give them this experience.

Asian Art Museum Seattle Portrait Session | Sonia + Ian

The Asian Art Museum in Seattle is a perfect place to a hold a wedding, but it is also the ideal spot for a lovebird portrait session any day of the week. Today, I was fortunate enough to shoot portraits of Sonia and Ian on a glorious sunny winter day. Their chemistry is obvious. A charming pair. The camera loves them. We had a lot of fun trudging through the mud and basking in the winter sunlight in Volunteer Park. Thank you for being such great sports.
