Laila + Tim Part II: the Film Series | Portland Portrait Photography
A little while back, I posted photos from an excellent portrait session with Laila and Tim. Being a Seattle wedding photographer, it was nice to travel to Portland to do some portrait work with two really excellent people. This time around, I am posting the ‘film’ photos from the session. All taken with my favorite film camera, the Contax 645.

Portland Portrait Photography | Bix + Brooksie
Sometimes, you meet people who really make you think. They are people you will never forget. That’s the case with Bix and Brooksie. They are a great couple who are truly committed. They’re not only committed to one another, but to living in a different era. The photos tell the tale. Bix and Brooksie dress in 1930s attire everyday. They also do their best to use appliances and decor from the same time period. Bix even has a sweet 1930s motorcycle. When I arrived at their home, they were listening to music from the 1930s, which was playing on old record player. It was fantastic. It was a blast to work with them and I learned a lot about depression era culture at the same time. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed this unique photo shoot.
All of these photos, except for the last two, were shot on film with my favorite camera: the Contax 645 medium format camera.

Laila + Tim | Portland Portrait Photography
I’d like to introduce you to Laila and Tim. I had the pleasure of photographing these dapper folks this past weekend in Portland, Oregon. Both Laila and Tim live in Portland where they work in the coffee industry and fearlessly brave the mean streets of the town on their bikes. As you can see in this set of photos, they also make time for a little bit of book shopping and park strolling on the side.
Robin and I met up with Laila and Tim at Powell’s Bookstore on Burnside where we wandered through the labyrinth of books together. It was the perfect beginning to a great day. While it drizzled lightly outside, we took shelter in this amazing monument to all things bookish. It was a lot of fun and we think the photos really capture the easy mood of our afternoon in the stacks.

After our time at Powell’s, we headed to the nearby Washington Park to visit Hoyt Arboretum. The rain subsided and there were really great moments of sunshine and dramatic skies. The cherry trees were already in bloom and everything was lush and green. It was really beautiful and, of course, Laila and Tim looked fantastic and even braved some muddy slopes in their fancy duds.
